Hello, everyone and welcome to Candid Cinema. My name is Amanda Guarragi, and I am a Toronto-based entertainment journalist. You can find more of my work on Ready Steady Cut and Maude’s Book Club, but this site is mine. I’ve been writing reviews for five years and have loved every second. My goal is to create a balanced review for my readers to see the good or the bad in any film. 

The name “Candid Cinema” came to me simply because I always want to be honest about the films or series I watch and provide fair criticism. Since I was a young girl, movies have been a lifeline. From MGM musicals to mob movies, I was exposed to a variety of films. And I have continued to expand my palette every year. 

I have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to attend festivals like TIFF and Sundance as an accredited press. The festival circuit is something I hold dear to my heart, and you will be able to find my yearly coverage on the site. Writing about the film has been an honour, and recently I’ve expanded to video content with my YouTube channel ‘Candid Cinema.’
